Half of Quarters Results In

From the left side of the bracket:
  • Bay Area 29 (5, 2, 0, 0) over McAllen 14 (2, 2, 0, 0)
  • Alamo City 34 (6, 2, 0, 0) over Arlington 11 (1, 1, 0, 0)

The parenthetical numbers are Tries, Conversions, Penalty Kicks, and Drop Goals, in that order. Scores from The Society for Texas Rugby Referees (who server double duty as, usually, timely score reports - and occasionally as journalists when they write up the games).

Bay Area and Alamo City met earlier this season, with the Boys from the Bay coming out on top: 20 to 7. So, what would that make a strictly hypothetical line on this match: Bay Area +13? Their margins against McAllen was a consistent 15-14 points (15, 15, 14. 14.67 pts to be more precise).

Uh, can we get a math check on aisle 3, sirs? Arlington: 1 try (5) + 1 conversion (2) = 7. 7 != 11 (that's programmer for "not equal"). Check my math, but I am pretty sure that the only way to score 11 points in a rugby match is 1 try (5) + 0 conversions (0) + 2 from Penalties or Drop Goals (3 + 3) = 11.

Can anyone witness or participant to this game clarify?

No word on the other games, yet. I need me some game reporting minions!

Good job on your website. I wish more teams would keep their websites updated. (Yes, ours needs some work, too.) Just some helpful comments: If you want to get information about TRU DIII, I suggest asking Stan Venable from Midland to add you to his email distribution list. Communication this year has really improved. Also, ask John Kurylas from Arlington to add you to his distro list. He has been keeping track of results this year and sending out weekly updates and can send you the latest results. (All teams in DIII have played 11 regular season games.) This is the best way to keep informed and I'm surpirsed that someone on your team isn't already on these lists.

Results of UT Grads vs. Midland quarterfinals games was 29 (5,2,0,0) - 22 (4,1,0,0).

Thanks Andy. Yes, I need to update a lot of the ancillary pages here. The blog system makes it very easy to update the main page, but doesn't help with the other persistent pages.

I've heard a lot of good things about Stan Venable. I think I met him briefly when we played the Maddogs, but I didn't know he was DIII Secretary. In the past, and the present, I've been a critic of the overall approach to the structure of the whole divisional structure, not DIII specifically.

I'll follow up with John Kurylas as well. I wish the TRU site was more efficient at reporting information. Instead, we get emails from TRU President with 3MB attachments, in what should have been a webpage or a link to a file. I guess they're locked into that ballache of a content management system the site is run with (I've noticed a lot of rugby LAUs use the same thing).

Good luck against Denton!
